I have made CDS.
I used 20ml of MMS to make 200ml of CDS.
I checked the PPM with test strips which was 6000.

Now for some calculations -

1ml MMS = 25 drops MMS, I used 20ml MMS = 500 drops (20x25)

As I read here 1ml of CDS at 6000 PPM = 6 drops of MMS

I made 200ml of CDS at 6000 PPM = 1200 drops MMS (200x6)

Now, who is it that from 500 drops of MMS i have made CDS that is equal to 1200 drops of MMS ?
and don't forget that some of the gas is lost in the air from the bubbles, some remained in the reaction bottle and still from 500 it turned to 1200.

It looks like we have a problem with our calculations in comparing MMS to CDS.

Or maybe i do not understand something?

We cannot compare drops of MMS (sodium chlorite) to drops of CDS (water solution of ClO2). I tried to do it and then realised that, unless we know how much ClO2 is actually generated by one ml (or any other known quantity) of sodium chlorite at concentration of 28%, we cannot compare quantities and concentrations for these two solutions. In other words, we do not know (or at least I do not know) how to calculate the theoretical ClO2 concentration in ppm in the original MMS solution. If someone knows how to do it please reply.

There is "available chlorine dioxide (Cl02)" and there is "free chlorine dioxide" in the MMS. The test strips are supposed to be measuring 'free chlorine dioxide'. The CDS is mostly or all free chlorine dioxide, but a regular MMS dose has some free chlorine dioxide resulting from the activation and some 'available chlorine dioxide' that is part of the chlorous acid mix that could be released with further activation. I have seen differences of opinion about how much available chlorine dioxide there is in sodium chlorite so we need to find something authoritative that can tell us.
