Hi jj.

Michael seems to use more solution than what I found necessary to get to 3000 ppm. My testing, along with others, used 12 ml of both ingredients. Again, LaMotte ClO2 test strips will tell you what you have.

Since the test strips won't directly read 3000 ppm, you will need to dilute a sample of your CDS so the test strips can read the ppm. If you are expecting to get 3000 ppm, I would add 1 ml of the CDS to 60 ml of distilled water. If your CDS is 3000 ppm, the color should match the 50 ppm color on the test strip container. So, multiply 60 x 50 = 3000. That is 1 part in 60 or 1:60 ratio.

Be sure to read the instructions on the LaMotte container as what you saw in the video is not quite correct. It says to DIP (don't stir, just dip and wait 2 seconds) a strip in the diluted solution for 2 full seconds (say, 1 thousand one, 1 thousand 2) and WITHOUT FLICKING OFF ANY SOLUTION ON THE STRIP, WAIT 10 SECONDS, then do the color matching.

For me, I can discern color changes better at the 50 color on the container.

Also, I suggest you use distilled water for testing as I have gotten wrong readings when using tap water. Who knows what's in your tap water!

Hope that helps.

jj, I forgot to mention that when you dilute 1 ml of your CDS into 60 ml of distilled water, it is important to throughly mix the solution so the 1 ml of CDS is evenly distributed throughout the solution or you may not get an accurate reading.

I forgot to do that once and got a ppm reading that was unexpected. Then I remembered that I had forgotten to stir the solution! So, I stirred it and remeasured the ppm and then it was what I was expecting.

Hello Pam,
In the video Kerri says she is using 50% citric acid for the CDS overnight method. I'm confused because I saw your reply and you said she's using 10% HCL.

Can I use either 10% HCL or 50% citric acid.

Thank you,
Christine

Yes, you may use the 10% HCl or the 50% citric acid. They should both work the same.

The autism people have been using the HCl for a while now, and I assumed she was using it in her CDS. If I was incorrect, please forgive me.

BTW, if you have the 4% HCl, you can use it, also, EXCEPT, instead of 12 hours, you need to do it 24 hours.

After researching how to dilute HCL and all the appropriate warnings, I will purchase the 10% HCL from the wps4sale site...better to be safe than sorry.

Another question though, since I have citric acid on hand, I was wondering if it is as effective as using HCL for the overnight CDS method?

Thank you,
Christine

CA works fine for the overnight method.

I have a question about dosing. I've looked on the forum and can't seem to find the answer.

I've been taking a maintenance dose of 6 drops daily of MMS1 for quite some time and adjust for a cold, etc. If I'm making CDS at 3000ppm (overnight method) would I still take 6 drops mixed with water? Is the dosing 1:1 for CDS to MMS1?

Also, I noticed on an older post that your dose your cat. I also have a cat that is an indoor/outdoor cat who is a HUNTER and I treat regularly for fleas and tapeworm. I love the critter and it would be great if CDS would help with these issues. Blackie is 11.7 lbs...would the CDS be helpful for these problems? If so, how often and what dose would you suggest? His weight does fluctuate a little...sometimes he's around 10.5 lbs also.

Thanks for your help,
Christine

using the 3000ppm of CDS, you would take 2mL for a daily 6 drop dose equivalent.

CDS is not going to help with fleas = and probably not with tapeworms. These are multi-cellular creatures. Sorry.

Thank you again, Pam.

Your reply does bring up another question about my cat. Would CDS work for a cold on him? He does get colds/sneezy/coughing occasionally. And the dose if it would work...
