Measuring Drops with a Syringe was created by periwinkle
I feel like I’ve seen this answer before, but I can’t find it here in the forum.  I also don’t see it in the Guide.

If I use a 1 ml syringe, how much is 1 drop?  I’m planning to use the syringe to measure DMSO.  I’ve never used DMSO yet, so I want to make sure I do it correctly.

We are using an international standard for liquid measurements, which is 20 drops per 1ml. One ml ÷ 20 drops = 0.05ml per drop of liquid. 

   

When using DMSO in a syringe, you may want to check compatibility of the syringe plastic and rubber parts with DMSO. I would also look at using a glass pipette. They do have a plastic bulb to draw up liquids, so just make sure the DMSO does not reach the bulb. There are also glass eye droppers available. You can find both on Amazon.com

I really appreciate the detail of your reply!  It’s very important to get this right.  

So now this leads to a whole new set of questions.  I’ve been using plastic syringes to dose my cats…I wonder if I’ve been harming them with the plastic?  It seems like I would need to use a glass pipette instead of a syringe.  This may explain why some aren’t improving.

The descriptions of syringes on Amazon just say quality plastic and they’re from China.  No idea what “quality plastic” they’re made of!

Besides Amazon I wonder where I could get a glass syringe or if the pipettes are better?

I’m wondering if your generator came with the AC plug for charging?  I’ve asked the company but it’s taking them awhile to respond.  I want to order it as soon as possible.

I’m wondering if your generator came with the AC plug for charging?  I’ve asked the company but it’s taking them awhile to respond.  I want to order it as soon as possible. The current advertising for the HOCL micro generator shows a 5 volt charger (same as your cell phone charger) with a two prong electrical plug on the charger / power supply.

CLO2 , I bought some "high quality" plastic syringes on Amazon, but the seller states they are not for industrial use, even though they claim to be suitable for giving medication to pets.  When I sent an inquiry to the seller, I could not get an answer as to what the high quality plastic is made of.

I bought glass pipettes, but these are graduated only by even numbers and so measuring for drops to use with DMSO could be tricky.  I just tried it for the first time today and I just counted the drops instead of trying to fill them to a specific line.  

What I need is a hybrid of the plastic and glass pipettes.  Do you have a source for these items?  Specifically for the plastic syringes that are compatible with DMSO.  I'm assuming you have purchased these before, but if not I understand.  

I will be using them to measure drops of DMSO.  However, I'm wondering if I just fill the pipette a little bit and then count out the drops if this will be fine?  I know it's not so precise, but it's certainly better than using an incompatible plastic syringe.

The problem with using a syringe to dispense DMSO is that most syringes use natural rubber piston seals. You can buy plastic syringes that use silicone seals.

"Dimethyl sulfoxideorgano sulfur chemical compound used as a solvent. 

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) can attack natural rubber and degrade it, but it does not typically attack silicone. Natural rubber gloves and seals are not suitable for use with DMSO as it can penetrate and degrade them. Silicone, on the other hand, is more resistant to DMSO. However, the compatibility of silicone with DMSO can vary depending on the specific formulation of the silicone. For reliable use, it’s recommended to use materials like butyl rubber, fluoroelastomer, or neoprene for seals and gloves when handling DMSO." (Brave search engine)

But, glass would be the best material for use with DMSO. I just bought the 1ml lot of ten. Each mark is 0.5ml which is one drop at 20 drops/ml of liquid standard that we use. Also bought the lot of five 10ml glass syringes.

The delivery time from Amazon is too long. Will order from here and only need to spend $10 to get free shipping from AliExpress for most sellers. Delivery time is about 2 weeks to the USA. There are many sellers of glass syringes on AliExpress.

I think I've ordered something from AliExpress once before and I had good results.  

I appreciate you giving me that link for the syringes.  Amazon's shipping has become very long lately, even if I use Prime.
