I read that without activator, use 1-2 drops mms per gallon for long term storage say for rv water tank or 50 gallon barrel, now I cant find where I read it, it says, do not activate for long term storage or large quantities. I would rather use sodium chlorite alone in my rv tank and save my citric acid for drinking water purification or when I'm sick.
Thanks

ClO2 dissipates relatively quickly. So long term storage isn't a great idea.

But SCS can be stored longer, and should be fairly effective.
That's what I would do.

For long term storage you need to add a tablet every three months.that is how I treat my rainwater tank.

if there is a 50-liter barrel in the camper CLOSE THE SYSTEM, then it is enough to disinfect the water in the barrel only 1 time. But when you add new water, repeat the disinfection. There is no point in disinfecting a closed system into which e.g. some bacteria.

It depends where you live. Just search for chlorine dioxide tablets in your web browser. Here's a site in Australia selling the exact tablets you need.

Hi Bill, just so I'm clear on this, is your answer, yes sodium chlorite alone without activation will do the job of killing bacteria in my stored RV water tank?
Thanks!

I haven't actually looked too closely at the use of Sodium Chlorite
as a Water Purifier, but it is, and that's generally what's it's sold as
to protect the seller form The Powers That Be.

So some research on that is probably called for to make sure
you are using it correctly.
