Can DMSO dissolve the fillings in your root canal?

Hi all,

As many people know, if you treat a root canal, a common procedure is to fill it with a flexible cone, which I found out is made of gutta-percha, which is a latex(rubber) based polymer.
Now, since DMSO dissolves rubber, I was wondering if rinsing you mouth, of even drinking, MMS with DMSO could dissolve this gutta-percha and spoil the root canal treatment, leaving you tooth hollow or something.
I have two teeth that I did root canal, and I'm drinking MMS with DMSO and rinsing my mouth with it in the last swallow, and I've been feeling sensibility to cold temperature on one of these teeth. So this idea came into my mind.
Does anyone has any knowledge on that?

If you can sense cold with that tooth, then the root canal was not successful. The nerve is still working.

At the next appointment, to fill the interior of the tooth, a sealer paste and a rubber compound called gutta-percha are placed into the tooth's root canal. To fill the exterior access hole created at the beginning of treatment, a filling is placed.

Besides the filling, there may also be a crown fitted. I don't see any way the DMSO can get to the gutta-percha.

If the DMSO can penetrate the enamel why shouldn't it penetrate the filling too? Also it can penetrate the enamel at the sides of the tooth. And I have this canal for more than a decade and never felt a thing.
But I have to be very precise here, since I really don't want DMSO to have any impediment for us.
The fact is that I have felt some sensibility on this tooth before during last year, but very mild. Yesterday, it was very sensitive, so, I was thinking and thinking about it last night, and this morning I wrote this post.
And today, I'm not feeling it at all. Maybe it's connected to some tension, but surely it would be a coincidence to feel it so sharply yesterday, when I've been rinsing with DMSO for the last 3 or 4 days.
I don't know if I continue to mouth rinse with DMSO, that I do just for getting the most of it, and maybe some teeth whitening too . Or if I just rinse with pure MMS. For if it really could react with the gutta-percha I would have to redo this tooth. The other tooth is untouched.
I'll just chill out about it and do some more experiences in the future. If anything happens with the tooth I'll let you people know about it.

Then there is the contact time necessary for DMSO to penetrate. I would think it would take some time for DMSO to penetrate enamel. Skin would be much faster.

You could also not use DMSO for a while.

A friend uses undiluted CDS to clean coffee stains on his teeth. Works great.

There might be a problem for you using MMS1, and the unreacted MMS and unused acid activator. As you may know, MMS1 is about 7% activated externally. Maybe try CDS which is only CLO2 in distilled water.

Hi Everyone, I read this on Jims website under tooth protocols, so it seems that DMSO/MMS can get right in there -

"Often you can even kill an absses inside of a tooth by using DMSO. Just mix an equal amount of DMSO with the MMS and an equal amount of water and use that on the tooth brush to brush the tooth with the absses. Doesn't work every time but most of the time."

It seems the enamel must be cracked for an infection to be inside a tooth. The original question, can DMSO dissolve root canal fillings is not answered, yet. I think the answer is that it does not harm fillings. If you think DMSO might cause that sort of problem, then don't hold a dose in your mouth very long and rinse with water right away. If swallowing MMS1 + DMSO, I doubt the short contact time would be a problem.

I know of two children who had abscessed teeth and the infections were killed by swishing strong CDS in their mouths.
