Hello, I'm new to this group and not sure if I posted this under the proper category, so I am reposting it here. Please forgive me if I'm still not in the right area but this is the only category I see that mentions animals.
I found this group quite by accident, but since everything happens for a reason, I don't know why I'm so amazed that I did
Just a day ago, I found out about DMSO through the Earth Clinic. I saw MMS mentioned a few times but was still working on what DMSO was. I came across a link for a you tube video where I watched Mr. Humble and was completely captivated. I wanted to know more about the church but then the thought hit me that maybe this could help my FIV+ cat (Figaro). So I went to Mr. Humble's website, got one of his books on my kindle, zoomed to the animal section but there was not too much mention about cats and dosage. So I googled it and wouldn't you know? here I am at the church that was mentioned in the YouTube video! So I guess this is where I'm supposed to start lol
If it seems I'm getting ahead of myself here it's because I'm concerned that my cat MAY be entering a 2nd stage of a skin allergy he suffers from and that has definitely been made worse (or turned into an opportunist infection maybe?) because of his FIV+ status. This change is just happening over this last month which is why I feel so rushed to get him started on MMS. He was diagnosed only a year ago and after several months of hard work, he has put on a few pounds and is in very good physical health. Back to the skin allergy...It became so bad when he was diagnosed that the only way to get it under control was with shots of Depomedrol. It was a last ditch effort as he was literally tearing his skin off and the secondary infections were killing him. I was so hesitant because the depo would suppress his immune system which of course is not what you want to do when dealing with AIDS. I literally begged the vet to do it as it was against her better judgement. He has had 6 months of wonderful
with depo shots every 6 weeks until this Feb, when his Jan shot only lasted a little over 3 weeks. Here we are just about at the 3 week mark again and his itching has started up again. So long story short, pretty soon the shots will not work any longer. My only option will be to put him to sleep as I will not see him suffer like that again. Just from the few stories I have read about MMS and the video I watched, I am convinced this MMS can save him. I know this is not a cat forum and I am so sorry for posting this whole story here but this is right where I was led and I don't know what I should do first. I do not want to see the vet because she already expressed at our last visit, her concern that the meds are now only lasting half the time they previously did and pretty soon they wouldn't work at all, so in other words prepare myself for the inevitable. I sensed no optimism at all from her
I'm very intimidated by the book I purchased and honestly am not even sure If Figaro has the time left for me to read & absorb the book and follow the protocols. I don't even have a good understanding of it all yet. Is there anything you can tell me or break it down for me somehow, like what's the bottom line of this, in a nutshell? Or maybe even point me in the right direction? I may have a day or 2 left before the itching becomes unbearable for him, so this is extremely time sensitive. I'm so hoping you can help because I absolutely know the vet cannot. She has only one solution at this point. Thank you very much in advance for any help or advice you can offer and thank you so much for reading this and again, I'm sorry it's so lengthy. Much love & respect, Teresa & Figaro
