First, I’m very sorry. It is an evil affliction.
Second, never ever listen to anyone who is not a sufferer…they are clueless and will regurgitate absolute garbage. That includes almost every doctor.
Many vegans have gout, so do vegetarians. I am vehemently against a long term vegan diet because that is what had me hobbling around the very first time. The high carb low fat heart healthy diet exacerbates gout, at least it does for me, and it’s what the professionals prescribe. The best place to start is to cut all alcohol, organ meats/supplements, sugars (especially fructose), vegetable oils, commercially grown grains, and drink lots of water. I know, getting to the bathroom is murder but you need to hydrate. A2 raw milk will help your body get your uric acid down. Hippocrates wrote about raw milk being a remedy for acute gout attacks over 2,400 years ago!
Others things that may or may not help are dark cherries (also possibly juice or extract), baking soda, ACV, organic lemon juice (fresh squeezed), quercetin, bromelain, or turmeric. There are lots of other things to try but that’s a good start. Most of those do nothing for me but A2 raw milk gets my uric acid under 6 in 2-3 days.
Order a uric acid meter, UA Sure II, and start testing every day. Start a food log and monitor your UA reactions. It can take up to 4 days for a spike in UA from a particular food. That will help you figure out your triggers.
Multiple rounds of MMS did not help me but it has others. I know of people that have put their gout in remission with a carnivore diet, doesn’t work for me. I can eat red meat without issues unless it’s the only thing I eat. With an Asian heritage, it seems I have a protein limit and if I pass it my UA starts to increase. Left unchecked, it compounds then BAM…you understand that all to well.
Getting your UA under 6 is paramount. If you cannot get A2 raw milk you can try pasteurized milk but it’s a dead food and can lead to other problems long term. I would never fault you for using it in the interim to alleviate the pain.
I’d be happy to discuss more but let’s first get you over this current flare.
Yours in the struggle.
