I am trying to make MMS according to these instructions:  How To Make MMS - Jim Humble | MMS | Master Mineral Solution | Miracle Mineral Solution | JIMHUMBLE.CO

They call for 720 g water and 280 g sodium chlorite. I divided this by 4 so I am using 180 g water and 70 g sodium chlorite.

After 24 hours I put 100 ml of the mixture on the scale and it was 114 g not 122 g. I kept adding more sodium chlorite and the weight would not go above 114 g. I have added 30 more grams of sodium chloride at this point and the weight is still 114 g.

After weighing the 100 ml I always put it back in the main mixing jar before adding more sodium chlorite. All of the crystals are dissolved yet the weight does not change. I find this very strange. Can any one please advise? Thank you!

(I am using Stellar Chemicals brand www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089CH99QF)

I'm not sure what's going on but I reweighed it and now I'm getting that 100 ml of solution weighs 120 g. But the ratio of sodium chlorite to water that I used is much greater than the directions say (jimhumble.org/how-to-make-mms). The directions say to use a 1:2.57 ratio and I used a 1:7.2 ratio.

Did I buy a bad brand of sodium chlorite (Stellar Chemicals)?

Thanks. I have a 50 g weight and the scale is properly calibrated.

So can I use this batch? Multiplying by 4 makes my batch the equivalent of 720 g water and 400 g sodium chlorite (rather than 280 g sodium chlorite specified by jimhumble.org/how-to-make-mms). Yet 100 ml of it somehow weighs 122 g...

I have making MMS for years and have never bothered to weigh it like Jim suggests. The home-made MMS I make seems to work fine to make MMS1, CDS and CDH. I do need to make a new batch soon, so I may try weighing 100ml of it and see what I get.

Hello there! This has happened to me as well. The first time I made MMS, it was with bottled water, and everything went according to plan. The second time, however, I used the distilled water I made myself, and found that the mixture was underwight. I eyeballed an amount of flakes and added it in, and thankfully it  added to the weight just as needed. I don't know why that had happened. I doubt the water was to blame..

I will have to make a new batch soon, so I will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

I used distilled water too.

Do you remember what brand sodium chlorite you used? I used Stellar Chemicals and suspect it was not actually 80% as the label said.

I used the brand "Prescribed for life", it is widely used as far as I know. I honestly have no explanation about why this happened with the weight...but you can always add more flakes, leave them overnight, and weigh the mixture again the next morning.
However, I think that the color it produces when mixed with the activator acid is more important. After 30 seconds, it should turn amber. If you tilt a glass and bring it to eye level, you can see the amber color forming in the middle of the drops, yet it is transparent. It should not be yellow.
