diatomaceous Earth

I want to get some DE (diatomaceous Earth). I have found one of the approved suppliers that has it and says it is "food grade" I think they called it.

I had seen a post on the forum somewhere that said to be sure and learn about it before you use it. (don't remember where who said it)

I want it for internal and also to put on my dogs to kill the fleas and on their yard. I know it says that it will kill fleas, but definitely don't want it to harm them, should they lick it.

Will I be okay as long as the DE that I get says its food grade? AND if its food grade will it kill the fleas?? The supplier didn't show they had any other. Someone else also told me that it is ALL food grade and wouldn't hurt the pets.

Jim's book doesn't say that much about it.

I've eaten and drunk (putting it in water) diatomaceous earth for years - it's fine. It's used in the parasite protocol. I've used it on my chickens, in their food, in their coop. Food grade is what you want - the DE that is sold in pool stores has a lot of other chemicals added. I buy mine in 50 lb bags at an organic gardening store.

The supplier (one of the forums approved ones) just calls it FOOD grade. It would be ok wouldn't it?
I don't live anywhere near organic garden stores, so I would have to order it.

It would be okay wouldn't it?

Most trusted DE suppliers will supply 2 types food grade 100% NATURAL AND ORGANIC DE. DE for human use normaly comes in smaller quantities and is a little cleaner than the DE supplied in bigger quantities. Both can be used. As long as it is 100% NATURAL AND ORGANIC nothing added it can be used for humsns and pets.

I like to add a little Calcium Bentonite clay powder to the DE. The clay cleans the stomache walls.

Lastly the more SILICA the DE and Clay have the better the quality will be.

If you have a farm store near you check with them. They may have food grade. It is used in animal care as well. Do not breathe it in!!

Thanks I will check out what the ones I've seen say - most all of them just say FOOD grade and also that it is for pets etc. Pam had said GOOD grade from organic gardening.

The supplier I saw had smaller amts - up to 2 lbs - another sold small and also 50 #'s

I am going to go on amazon.com - they have small amts and large amts, all say the same, I think.
will research it more.

Thank you - We have a tractor supply 50 miles from us - I don't know if our little small feed store would carry anything like it - but will check.

You said not to breathe it in - what about my pets? If I put it on the grass, they definitely will breathe it in. OR should it not be put on the lawn?

I want to put it on them to keep off and kill fleas, but something that won't hurt them if they lick it.
ALSO to sprinkle on the lawn to kill insects and keep fleas out of our yard too, to keep the little pests out. My biggest concern if for my two BFF's.

BY THE BY - you helped me so much when my little Scot was so sick - Thank God - he is SO TOTALLY well that he is acting like he should have acted when he was 5 months old. I know now that he had had a parasite or something that was dormant from an infection he had had in his leg when he was little, before we got him. They said the infection was gone - NOT !! Thank God I found MMS for him. I told him he had to get well and pretty darned fast, as he needed to be a poppa. Yep - my female is so TOTALLY pregnant and pups should arrive on or around May 12.
I'm also giving the MMS in their water to both of them and since the puppies are due soon, I have started giving them both 2 small doses of MMS each day to keep them ALL healthy

I have a friend that I'm going to finally be able to get her to use MMS - she said Drs said her stomach is inflamed. I have heard from others that it would be best for her to use CDS or CDH as it would not be as strong. Which do you think would be best??? and also would the calcium Bentonite help heal and soothe her stomach?

Sorry, typo. It's the Food grade you want - not "good grade" - (F and G keys are right next to each other) In the US I've seen only the two types - either food grade or the kind from the pool store with additives.

Pam - thanks for confirming that - I had thought that maybe you meant food grade, Those keys too close sometimes cause too many problems. Thank God for spell check- it helps unless you type a word spelled correctly. Shows we are still smarter than the computer.
