Removing hard lumps under skin.

Hi all,
Quite a long time ago when Jim was being interviewed by project camalot he met a guy who had an interesting piece of metal. Like a spoon handle.
It was used apparently with some affect in removing those strange hard lumps we sometimes get under the skin. It was rubbed over the lump and little bumps on the metal stick would do something to the lump under the skin.
At the time I just thought it curious. Now I want to use one on a strange lump.
The lump is something like bone and has grown on my little finger. It's just under the middle bone! Gets knocked from time to time when I hold things and can be sore...
Anyway, can anyone remember what said device is and where to go hunting for it. I remember Jim being very impressed with it after using it for a time. He even had some on his site for a little while I think.!

Let us know what you find out. I recently found a similar lump growing under the skin on the palm of my left hand. Its about 7mm diameter and 3mm high and seems to be getting bigger.
