How can ClO₂ gas be used directly as a therapeutic?

On this forum (and elsewhere) there are strict cautions against inhaling ClO₂ gas. I agree that at high concentrations it is not pleasant but what are the dangers? The Universal Antidote refers to several experiments that demonstrate no side effects and measurable therapeutic benefits with concentrations between 0.1 and 20ppm.

The Public Health England safety sheet lists various concentration limits for harmful exposure and they are in the 1–5% range. The lowest concentration noted is 0.3% (3000ppm), which can cause eye irritation. 'Exposure by inhalation' is listed as 5ppm, referenced to " =13pxUS Environmental Protection Agency. Toxicological Review of Chlorine Dioxide and Chlorite, in Support of Summary Information on the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS), 2000. " and this document contains an anecdote that challenges the laboratory experiments referenced in The Universal Antidote film.

Does anyone have any data on the use of ClO₂ in ventilation systems or details of the schoolroom experiment reported in the film?

MMS (Master Mineral Solution) is Sodium Chlorite 28% (22.4% Sodium Chlorite, 5.6% Inert Salts and the remainder water) plus an acidic activator (usually 50% Citric Acid or 4% Hydrochloric Acid) when combined produces Chlorine Dioxide.
