Greetings readers,

Glad to be here, I just joined today and I am happy to have found this forum.

As Sodium Chlorite becomes increasingly harder to get a hold of, I am starting to get to the point that I think that I have to synthesize it myself.

After days of trying to find a way to create Sodium Chlorite, I have only found one way to do it, which is to electrolyse saltwater. It said to use a 9v battery and conductive rods to put in the water. To me it sounds like too weak of a reaction for it to turn into the chlorite.

Anyways, my question is if this actually works. If not, then I'd like to hear any other ideas.

To be clear, I am aware of the risks involving synthesizing your own stuff, please do not fear me blowing up my house. Thank you.

MMS (Master Mineral Solution) is Sodium Chlorite 28% (22.4% Sodium Chlorite, 5.6% Inert Salts and the remainder water) plus an acidic activator (usually 50% Citric Acid or 4% Hydrochloric Acid) when combined produces Chlorine Dioxide.
