Hi Don,
I know everyone is different... but mine was classified as severe ulcerative colitis..... and I stopped all dairy, meats (chicken, red meat and fish) eggs, fruits and sugared foods. I mainly ate a macrobiotic diet for about a year (minus raw foods and harsh grains) to let my system "calm down".
Raw foods are extremely harsh as the cell wall of the food isn't broken down at all from cooking, and my digestive system didn't have the energy to digest or break down foods that were raw, it was just too taxing.
I would eat things like quinoa, millet, whole wheat noodles, etc.... as well as root vegetables (that were not over cooked).
Along with this, I would take a very fine (important) psyllium based powder with digestive enzymes to get some bulk into my stools, and tonify the colon.... AND I would would take digestive enzymes. The clay is extremely important as it (like the psyllium) tonify's and cleans the colon walls. I can't express enough how important clay was in getting well.
I found clay here :

She's very good to deal with (Janet)
Hope this helps,
Clint
