Thanks, I will tell him at end of month when I order more. His main web site has been taken down but i see another one. Canada just passed a law that we are suppose to have picture ID to buy it now. I will see how that goes. I am taking the course now and that is when my husband and I noticed that the mixture was wrong.

Always by weight. Always using the same units. Most of the world uses metric system . This avoids confusion as there are many kinds of oz, many kinds of pounds, many kinds of gallons, many kinds of quarts, ++++, but only one kind of gram (gramme) .

Another thing that confused me is the expressing of solution concentration in weight/weight (w/w) ratio, as I am get used to use the weight/volume concentration (w/v) all my life in laboratory. When I am to prepare e.g. 100 ml of 30 % solution of some stuff, I weight 30 grams of this stuff, place it in 100 ml volumetric flask, add some distilled water and when the stuff is dissolved I fill the flask up to the mark at its neck - and I have 100 ml of 30% (w/v) solution exactly.
It is inconsistent for me if it is used w/w concentration when preparing solution and then use volume (drops) activating MMS.

Mistral chemicals sells sodium nitrite to both UK and Europe. They are reasonably prized

Steve - thanks for the 2.57 ratio!

Simplifies things a bit....

The problem with volume measurements is the variation with temperature. eg. 1gm water = 1ml @ 4c. 1gm water = 1400ml @ 102c. OR 8.34pounds of water = 1400 gallons @ 214f

another caution: 28% or 2.57 are only correct for 80% dry sodium chlorite. Other concentrations will have to be calculated separately to produce OFFICIAL, 'BY THE BOOK', MMS @22.4% SODIUM CHLORITE SOLUTION by weight

I realise that some may see this as splitting hairs, but this forum is obviously used as a reference source and should try to be as clear, concise and accurate as possible. 'Close Enough' should be left to a personal decision.
