Cl02 Thank you for your help. Your reply is 3 pages and way over my head to understand, sorry. I only need a very simple simple answer. I Have the strips , I did everything in testing exactly as you have simply have taught me before, thank you. Now my only question is .... MY reading is closest to 100 , you knowing that is my solution good or not. I looked on receipt and it 3 years old and kept it freezer , 6 quarts of sodium chlorite . If its not I'll purchase more because someone's life depends on this potency. Thank you very much CL02 , sorry that my inability to understand is such a pain, I know it is , dyslexia. I wish mms or cds would help with that but It dosen't . It's been a problem my whole life , I don't read backwords just comprehension has to be broken down more than most, sorry. Your patience is exremely appreciateed, Thank you. If I remember correctly the solution is supposed to be about at a reading of 500, correct ? Also after you add the 4 oz of distilled water is it ok to stir a little with plastic spoon or not stir ???

Orv, are you measuring CDS or MMS1?

In either case you will need to dilute the test sample before you test it with test strips.

If measuring 3000 ppm CDS, put 59ml of water in a small glass or shot glass. Then add 1ml of CDS to the water.

Dip one test strip in the diluted CDS water for 2 seconds, remove it without shaking off any of the water. Wait 10 seconds. If the CDS is 3000 ppm, the color of the strip should be the same as 50 ppm on the side of the container. Multiply 50 ppm times 60 (the dilution) and you have 3000 ppm.

If you are measuring MMS1 in 4 fl oz of water, you won't need to dilute a sample. Just match the color of the strip with the color chart on the strip container. It might read 25 ppm.

Thank you for your reply. Your last reply to my whole question of " is 50 ppm good or bad or is 250 or 500 ppm best " was you wrote " It might read 25 ppm " Is that what its supposed to read to be at 3000 ppm. I'm not sure what your answer means by 25 ppm. Your really not saying a answer. My test strip read 100 ppm and i was saying is that good or not and if not then what should it read to be equivalent to 3000 ppm. which one 10,25,50, 100, 250, or 500, if my reading is wrong i'll throw out the sodium chlorite and buy new but I can't do anything until I find a answer. Please help here , thank you CL02.

"I'm testing for only mms-1 with hcl to get the chlorine Dioxide reading not trying for anything with cds or cdh."

If you are measuring MMS1 in 4 fl oz of water, then the CLO2 ppm should be about 15 to 25 ppm. You can read that directly with test strips, no dilution needed. If you are trying to measure CLO2 ppm of MMS1 that does not have 4 fl oz of water added, the ppm could be in the thousands. I would not try to measure that way.

You are talking about a 3000 ppm solution, so that could be CDS or CDH. In that case, since test strips only measure up to 500 ppm, you will need to dilute a test sample with water.

Normally 1 ml of CDS is added to 59 ml of water and that diluted solution is measured with a test strip.

If the color matches 50 ppm on the container, you would multiply 50 times 60 (the dilution) and get 3000 ppm CLO2 concentration.

Thank you now I finally understand, I'm slow, I'm sorry. So ,3 drops of sodium chlorite and activate with hcl wait 30 sec then add 4 oz distilled water then use test strip and MY TEST STRIP READS. 50 PPM. NOT 25 PPM. SO IT MEANS IT'S STILL GOOD BUT MORE STRONG. SO JUST USE IT AND GO UP SLOWLY AND EASY. CORRECT ? THEN I MAKE INTO CDS BUT DO SAME START LOW AMOUNT AND GO SLOW AND EASY AS WE INCREASE. CORRECT?
